In this experiment, we looked at different techniques and tools that can be used to transfer Product Manufacturing Information from a 3D CAD model to the manufacturing step (the CAM step). The advantage of using a 3D modelling technique in the design phase (including all the relevant information for the downstream processing steps as manufacturing and assembly) is evident. But it can only pay off when the correct information can be automatically extracted for the downstream processing.
